Club rules

  • Buoyancy aids and spray decks must be hung up to dry after use.

  • Canoes must be emptied of equipment and water after use and sponged dry.

  • Any damage to Club equipment must be reported to the Secretary.

  • Any member arranging a paddle with other members without the prior approval of the Committee does so independently of Club activities and will be deemed a private event.

  • Vehicles should only be parked in the designated parking areas, not in front of the Clubhouse or on the slipways.

  • Valid Membership passes must be displayed in vehicles at all times.

  • Members and their guests must return any kit borrowed to the appropriate area in the shed.

  • Members may request permission to organise a Club activity, however, permission may be given only if the Committee is in receipt of full details which will include: suitability of member named as trip leader, risk assessment, suitability of proposed paddlers together with contact details, a named emergency contact for the activity.

  • The Member last off the water must ensure that the Canoe sheds are locked.

  • Members may, at the Committee’s discretion and subject to space and payment of the appropriate fee, be allocated a racking space for the storage of their canoe/kayak. A member’s own boat and equipment stored in the Canoe shed must be clearly marked with the member’s name and membership number. There is limited racking space for members’ own boats and these will be allocated on an individual basis, priority going to those who have specific needs or disability. Members who have allocated rack spaces will be asked to vacate them if the boat being stored is not used at least on average once a month. Any such decision will be taken by the committee, after which the member will be given one month’s notice to remove their boat from the shed. Members' own boats are left at the owner's risk. Bcc will not take any responsibility for theft or damage, accidental or otherwise.

  • Members should ensure their own kit, as the Club accept no liability for any damage caused.

  • Racks will be allocated based on the frequency of use of the boat concerned. Members who have allocated rack spaces will be asked to vacate them if the boat being stored is not used at least on average once a month. Any such decision will be taken by the full committee, whereafter the member will be given one month to remove their boat from the Canoe Sheds.

  • Members must not use racks allocated to another member without their prior permission.

  • Members requiring a rack space should make a request to the committee.
